Room was clean and reasonably spacious. Bathroom was large, modern and clean. Full Scottish breakfast was ample, but nothing special. Parking was difficult. With the back lot only large enough for only 4 cars, we needed to park on the street several blocks away when we arrived back late at night.

Location

Glasgow itself had plenty to offer, including some attractions close to the hotel, such as the Botanical Gardens and the nearby DeCourcy arcade with some boutiques and Aunty M's Cake shop for example.

The rooms were clean and nicely furnished. The key draw back is the noise throughout the night from the road impacting on the ability to get a good nights sleep. Secondary double glazing would have reduced this. Breakfast is basic and classed as 'complimentary' - fresh fruit was actually tinned fruit cocktail, and the selection of cheeses was one type of cheese - pre-packed lunchbox type. There are insufficient tables (only 6) in the breakfast room for guests, meaning that you have to stand and wait for a table to come free. We were also surprised that breakfast finished so early (times were 7-9am even on a Sunday).

Great location near University of Glasgow. Rooms were clean and large enough to have some space. Very nice bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. The major negative was the long climb up the stairs to the rooms.

Stayed at Clifton in Sept '09...and again in May '10 and saw a HUGE improvement. The rooms have been renovated and the new accommodations were amazing. Staff were friendly and hospitable and morning breakfast plenty. Would stay again as location is perfect for enjoying Glasgow in all it's glory.

Location

In the perfect West End...close to the university, botanics and Byers Road...not to mention the fabulous pub across the street the Oran Mor.
