Visitor Reviews of Newton Hotel - Overall Rating 3.6

The room was small but adequate, the bed was a double rather than queen size, our shower was interesting with lots of bits that squirted in different directions, which I think was regarded as a luxury item; the TV was hard to get going but the staff were helpful and provided prompts attention. The location was great for a first vist to Glasgow.
Location
Well located for a tourist visit to Glasgow.

It was as good as we were entitled to expect for the modest price. Nice clean, newly decorated rooms. Breakfast food was a bit poor quality, but it was free.
Location
Convenient location, as close to the centre as one could expect for the price.

This hotel is great value for money. It is a few minutes walk into the centre of Glasgow and delivers everything it advertises. The hotel is quite small but the rooms are all of a decent size and very clean having recenttly been refurbished and inspected. The are numerous bars and restaurants nearby (as the hotel does not have a bar or lounge)
The staff cannot do enough for you and brought me extra tea/coffee when I had a friend around!
The breakfast is good value for money and I would definitely return without hesitation.
Location
The location is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Glasgow.

Please do read down for my "big" complaint, it would be good for the hotel to know
Hotel entrance very smart
Staff very friendly and helpful
Our room very clean, but with exception of dubious mark on red carpet..a pity that. The fabrics very smart, but let down by the curtains which had lost the end hooks for the curtain track and the curtain tape had become unstitched, resulting in the curtains drooping unsightly. It wouldnt take much to repair and if I had had my sewing kit I would have done it!
Clean towels every day..I wouldnt mind hanging onto them a bit longer to save water etc
The en-suite very smart..though the shower head needs looking at because water was coming out from joints other than the shower head and shooting over the screen and onto the floor
Lastly..the dining room and breakfast....my only real complaint
The dining room very smart and attractive.
The continental part of the breakfast very good with fresh fruit etc..however the cooked breakfast included TURKEY RASHERS...a new thing to me and so fatty..looked like streaky but without the taste and nasty cheap sausages. We had 3 breakfasts to get through and that those turkey rashers haunted us and really let the tone down. My friend travelling with me usually eats anything in her path and I enjoy my food, but that really put us off! We had just the egg! Oh and potato scones were included and I looked forward to having some but they were "mullered" to an inch of their lives..oozing with fat.
Coming to Scotland we were looking forward to a hearty scottish cooked breakfast we didnt get the cooked part unfortunately..
Without my gripe re the breakfast I would put Newton Hotel as excellent

The hotel was centrally located and great value for money. The room was small and somewhat spartan in furnishings, although it did have a beautifully renovated bathroom.
The breakfast room was inviting and the food was delicious.

Security is very good. Room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was adequate but bacon served was not cooked long enough. Reception staff was helpful in ordering a taxi.
Location
Convenient for planned visit to the Mitchell Library - a short walk from the Newton Hotel. Convenient for access to rail stations and shopping on Sauciehall Street - one block away.
